For Referring Agencies
Abortion Support Network (ASN) is an all-volunteer organisation that provides accommodation and financial assistance to women forced to travel from Ireland to have a safe and legal abortion.
Abortion Support Network is located in London but hopes someday to expand its hosting network to other areas of England where women are travelling to obtain abortions as needed.
Abortion Support Network also fundraises in order to give financial assistance grants to women to help cover the cost of an abortion procedure. This funding is available on a case by case basis depending on circumstance and availability of funding. Women do not need to stay overnight, or travel to a London clinic, to qualify for funding.
Accomodation for women is offered as necessary, either the night before or after a procedure or, in the case of later abortion, the night during a procedure.
Abortion Support Network hosts provide an appropriate sleeping area, meals and local transportation costs for the client and their support person (if they bring one) while in their company. A volunteer collects a client from the clinic, takes them home and returns them to the clinic the next morning. When hosting the night before a procedure, volunteers will arrange to meet the client at a convenient location between the airport and the volunteer’s home. All Abortion Support Network volunteers are carefully interviewed, screened and trained.
